Happy St. Valentine’s Day

Happy St. Valentines Day to everyone.  Here’s a little history and legend for you.

The legendary St. Valentine supposedly was caught marrying Christian couples so the men could avoid going to war under Emperor Claudius who was short of soldiers. He also is credited with a miraculous healing of the blind daughter of the jailer when he was imprisoned for his offense against the Emperor.
It is said that when he was executed he left a note for the girl saying, “Your Valentine”.
Many of the current legends that characterize Saint Valentine were invented in the fourteenth century in England, notably by Geoffrey Chaucer and his circle, when the feast day of February 14 first became associated with romantic love.
Researchers say the connection between the saint and courtly love did not exist before Chaucer debunking the myth that it was created to supplant a pagan holiday.

At any rate, give somebody a hug or some flowers and share some love.
